Only The Young perform at Under The Bridge

Fans were gathered outside Stamford Bridge Stadium on Saturday bursting with excitement for what was going to be a very emotional day. No, Chelsea didn't have a match, infact, it wasn't even their supporters there. Instead, Only The Young had two jammed packed headline shows lined up to perform at Under The Bridge.

Now, if you've been living under a rock these past 8 months I'll give you a little reminder. Only The Young are a four piece mixed band, 'TWO GIRLS TWO BOYS'  (to quote Louis Walsh), consisting of Parisa Tarjomani, Charlie George, Betsy-Blue English and Mikey Bromley. They auditioned for The X Factor in 2014 and from the get go they were praised for their refreshing originiality and Simon even said he would love to work with them. Throughout the show their unique talent and versitility made them extremely popular as they got through to live shows and made it onto the tour, until they were sourly booted off Week 7 in a double elimination. But as everyone in the nation already knew, this was only the beginning of Only The Young.

Since then the band have been busy on The X Factor tour giving them the perfect opportunity to have a little taste of what their lives could be like, touring the country and singing to sold-out arenas every night. They have also been making time for studio sessions teasing their Twitter followers with pictures and snippets of new original songs which has all led up to this day.

As expected, from the outset their high energy personalities shone through starting off with their version of Jailhouse Rock which we all heard on X Factor to get the crowd thriving. Throughout the show they had the perfect balance of uptempo songs and ballads both covers and originals, showing off just how talented the foursome were with their incredible vocals and even playing their own instruments. Adding that with their sense of humour, silly little stories and party tricks (including Mikey's rapping and Charlie's worm) their funfilled show was suitable for all ages.

The set concluded with Parisa's announcement that they have actually been signed to Warner Music and introduced their original song I Do which was a potential single for them, before ending the night with an emotional tribute to Parisa's mother with their version of Hold Back The River.

I wish them every bit of luck for the future and I just know that they are definitely ones to  watch out for. This is only the start for Only The Young!!

The Evolution Of Ariana Grande.

Her new single ‘Problem’ ft Iggy Azalea was released last night so I’m going to go through the evolution of Ariana Grande, from Nickelodeon to the Superstar she’s becoming.

Before Yours Truly before that red hair, Ariana Grande was just a girl from Boca with dreams of becoming a star. When she was just 8 she sang the National Anthem in front of thousands. She also performed in musical theatre productions and in her spare time she’d upload videos of her covering some of the biggest songs on YouTube resulting in growing a stable, loyal fanbase now known as Arianators. Even back then we all knew Osnapitzari was going places.

Then she was offered that one particular role, her big break in the industry. With bright red hair, a bubbly naive personality and a cutesy (admittedly annoying) distinctive voice, it was no wonder Cat Valentine was the most loved character in Victorious. She gave light relief in every episode with her one liners and bizarre antics and although Tori was the main character, Cat evidently was the star of the show. So much so, when Victorious ended, Ariana has continued to do a spin-off with iCarly character Sam Puckett, Jeanette McCurdy.

Not forgetting her incredible voice, Ariana who is constantly compared to Maria Carey with her whistle tones and massive vocal range, had spent years writing and preparing her debut album Yours Truly. Originally her sound was portrayed as bubblegum pop with her tracks, Pink Champagne and Put Your Hearts Up whilst sporting baby pink dresses but as the years went on, Ariana didn’t want that. She wanted to be more true to herself creating music she liked not just what she thought would sell. After signing to Scooter Braun, her image began to transform to match her voice; angelic, replacing her red hair with ombre locks and what is now known as her signature hairstyle; half up half down and her outfits being a blast from the past; old fashioned and sophisticated.

Her first single ‘The Way’ featuring Mac Miller was a perfect debut for her as it stormed the charts in numerous countries (including Billboard) and created an extremely high expectation for her future records.

Following the hype, she finally released her album which of course, went No.1 in the Billboard charts and over 30 other countries, including top 10 in the UK. It also included major collabs with Mika, Big Sean and even Nathan from The Wanted. What a massive year 2013 was for her.

Since, she has continued Sam & Cat, travelled the world promoting, had a brief relationship and duet with Nathan Sykes, performed for The President at The White House and is now in process of her second album. I spy her sexing up her look, judging by her ‘Problem’ promo pics and recent appearances so I can only guess her album will reflect this AND I CAN’T WAIT.

Good luck with everything, Ari x

Boohoo Haul

So, by the picture above you can tell I did some online retail therapy. Boohoo.com is definitely my favourite online retailer purely because you can get the latest trends at reasonable prices in amazing quality. I have to be honest, as much as I LOVE buying clothes, I am one of those girls who would go in Primark and be shocked when something is over £10. In other words, I’m tight. So when I discovered Boohoo you can understand I was in heaven.  The downside is I’m a poor part-timer at Marks & Spencer so I can’t afford to buy the whole website. I’ve only ever purchased 3 items before but Boohoo being the amazing people they are, kindly sent me a free delivery code I could use whenever I wanted (rather than the usual day) so I jumped at the chance to shop when payday arrived.

Why I never owned a maxi skirt before now is baffling to me but I finally bought one and it’s one of my favourite purchases ever. The material is so comfortable, it’s figure hugging but so flattering at the same time and the elastic waistband makes it so easy to wear. The colour is so, so pretty aswell, I can’t wait to purchase more of these. Only £8.

White and black crop tops are quickly becoming a wardrobe essential but I'd never got around to buying one until now. They’re so simple but can so easily complete an outfit. I know I’m going to get so much wear out of this and at £4 I definitely need to invest in some more. [lil feature from Lily cat]

I am o b s e s s e d with the colour mint lately (see my Minty Fresh post) so when I found this at just £10 it was a must-have. It’s so light and the material feels so smooth and amazing I will probably end up throwing this on with every outfit i wear when the weather heats up. I thought this would go perfectly with my Mint Skort I bought from Primark to create a cute co-ord (another trend i adore!)

I really wanted a collared blouse but I didn’t want to feel like I was back at school again, so this lush turquoise no sleeve option was a no brainer. It was in the sale section for £8 and it was also available in pink but the sequinned detail looked so much cuter in the blue. It’s not too cropped either which I love and you can literally just chuck it on with anything and it would look good. Unique yet versatile!

A day in the life of kayteepook ft Only The Young and friends.

Hey, pals.

In my last post you might have seen me mention a lil fundraiser that was planned for 8th? Well I'm pleased to say it was a HUGE success and I was there to witness the whole thing!

So, my day properly started at 6:00am where I met Charlotte before preparing ourselves for the gruelling 5 hour journey from Plymouth to London. Yes, there was energy drink involved! Other than our very random talking topics and in coach entertainment that consisted of singing. (Our fellow passengers loved us.) Charlotte introduced me to the amazing film ever, Frozen. I am now obsessed.

coach antics.
Today was going to be a very special day because not only were we going to raise awareness and money for a great cause; Macmillian Cancer Support but aswell as this I'm meeting OTY for the very first time.

Myself and Betsy have been speaking for about 2 years now (before she joined the band) and never had the chance to meet because, quite frankly, distance is a bitch, but i was not going to pass up this opportunity and we finally met and we definitely made up for lost time with the amount of pictures we took, hahaha!

plus 31 more ... Anyway, back to the fundraising!

After arriving fashionably late, we witnessed a massive crowd blocking off most of Leicester Square that was devoted to watching OTY busk, it was incredible that so many came to support the guys and donate and they'd only been there 10 minutes!

Their setlist consisted of covers of popular songs such as Counting Stars and Roar as well as a few of their own originals and some good ol' Fresh Prince Of Bel Air improv thrown in for good measure! It was ideal promotion for them. They were also joined by good friend and fellow musician, Ollie Wade who entertained the crowd between breaks and Parisa's sister Zahra also got involved! Last but not least, the extremely beautiful and brave Sophie was there to witness how many people love and want to stand by her through this terrible illness.

All in all It truly was an amazing day and with the sun shining and money buckets rattling nothing could fault it. Only The Young raised £704 in just 4 hours so like i said it was an incredibly successful day and I'm sure on behalf of everyone, I am sending my love and wishes to Sophie in hope she makes a remarkable recovery.

Stay Strong Mummy OTY!!

Here are a few pictures and a video montage created by a very amazing fan, Bryony, of the day.

Created by Jo Perry, OTY are set to be the best thing since sliced bread with their fun-loving attitudes and fresh talent, surely the first boy-girl band since S Club 7 (and 8) is exactly what the pop world needs, right?!

"With their infectious sound and up beat vibe they deliver a whole new dimension to the music industry. Mikey, Betsy, Charlie & Parisa have collectively gained an ever increasing fan base from around the globe and are proving they are the ones to watch. The group have secured major live touring deals with Live Nation & Marshall Arts and have played alongside a roster of top artists including Jessie J, The Wanted, McFly & The Vamps."

Now you know a little bit about them, time to get a bit serious ...

Oldest member of the band, Parisa, recently reached out to everyone on Twitter about a matter very close to home. Unfortunately, her family has had to come to terms with the fact her mother, Sophie has been diagnosed with Cancer. Of course, the dreaded 'C' word is a shock to everyone but this hasn't dampened their spirits.

Instead, this has made the band even more determined and in addition, would like to invite you ALL to attend and help fundraise for Cancer charities in honour of Parisa's family.

On the day, which is happening on 8th March (Next Saturday), OTY, along with their other talented pals will be busking and raising further awareness for the chosen charities with the help of their fanbase; Youngsters and the general public.

PLEASE come along if you can and support such a worthy cause but just incase you can't, they have set up a justgiving page where you can donate. (here)

THE RETURN OF KAYTEEPOOK

Before I start, I'd like to apologise for abandoning this account. So much has gone on this past year that Journalism and more importantly BLOGGING was not my cup of tea at the time.

BUT I AM BACK

and I will ensure I blog as much as I can because, to be honest, I forgot how much I love writing and everything I have done always leads back to my aspiration of a jounalist and have been encouraged to try and pursue it.

..........

Now that's out of the way, let's start blogging!! My next post will be about a new up and coming band close to my heart; Only The Young.

STAY TUNED!!

My Top 5 (6) Covers.

So, one thing I’m a massive fan of is covers, so I thought I’d do a blog post on my Top 6 (was meant to be 5) favourite covers. Now all the ones i’ve picked are all in my opinion better than the original so let’s get started:

First up is Lawson’s version of Marry The Night. Lawson are one of a few YouTube turned artists in this list and if you haven’t heard of them they are a four piece band based in London made up of Andy Brown, Adam Pitts, Ryan Fletcher and Joel Peat. They are NOT a boy band, you’ll find them singing The Script songs before anything by One Direction. They’ve also had two top 5 singles ‘When She Was Mine’ and ‘Taking Over Me’ and have supported acts such as The Wanted, Avril Lavigne etc.  Anyway, when I first heard Lawson were going to do a Lady Gaga song I was unsure because of their genre and style of music but their acoustic set-up is so unique and it like a completely different song. It’s Amazing. @Lawsonofficial Check it Out:

Second is Conor Maynard’s version of Next To You. So if you haven’t heard of Conor Maynard WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? He was a YouTube artist from Brighton who was discovered by Ne-Yo and has been compared to the likes of Justin Bieber. He’s been one of the rising stars of 2012 and is slowly getting some success overseas too! Anyway Next To You, is one of his many covers he did while trying to gain his profile and it is a collaboration with another fantastic girl, Ebony Day. I definitely prefer his covers to his own material and this is one of my faves. @conormaynard Check It Out:

Next up is Betsy-Blue English with her cover of Don’t Judge Me by Chris Brown. Now, Betsy-Blue is not high profile like my other two choices but do not underestimate her ability. She’s an upcoming singer/actress and at only 16 years old she has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard from a teenager of her age. To add to her advantages she has well known contacts from the music business. Also the guitarist in this cover Ed Stokes was featured in Conor Maynard's cover of ET. So check her out and watch this space for her! @betsybluee

Fourth is GMD3’s version of Payphone. GMD3 are a three piece boyband of Greg West, Michael Parsons and Dan Ferrari-Lane. They are a YouTube artist based in London and are recently taking part in The X Factor 2012. Also they are managed by Jayne Collins who was responsible for The Wanted and The Saturdays! They have an old-school sound and their music influences are from Michael Jackson to Chris Brown. Not only is this a great cover, Micky also wrote his own rap/verse to use instead of the original by Wiz Khalifa. Showing their own style, this is an amazing cover. @GMD3music Check It Out:

Fifth is Sam Callahan’s version of We’ll Be Coming Back. Sam Callahan is a fairly new YouTube/Twitter singer and is also best friends with GMD3, who I mentioned above so has great links to the industry and he's from Essex the same place as Olly Murs! ;) At first I have to admit, I wasn’t sure about him but the way he turned a dance track by Calvin Harris and Example to an acoustic sound and made it unique made me obsessed with it. @samcallahan94 Check It Out:

So, I was only going to do 5 but none of my blog posts would be the same without a bit of The Wanted...so I decided to pick my favourite cover they have done which is Iris. Before they covered this, I don’t think anyone really knew their full potential vocally or their ability to play instruments, they were just a typical boyband so I think this changed people’s opinions of them as a group. @thewantedmusic So yeah this was a perfect choice so ENJOY:
